IT Architect

Job Title: IT Architect
Location: Baltimore, MD
Salary/rate: $120-180,000/year

An IT Architect manages various points in the product and solution life cycle. They draw up the blueprints to achieve high-level solutions for business applications, systems, portfolios, infrastructure, or the entire enterprise. IT Architects maintain the IT landscape, develop and upgrade IT services and create solutions for organizations. Solutions often design, communications management, security, networking, storage, etc.   

Responsibilities:

  • Identifying technological risks and ensure IT solutions prove to be consistent with acceptable risk levels while meeting all the necessary requirements
  • Conducting new technology exploration complemented by proposals, feasibility studies and proof of concept plans, leading to the successful implementation of new technology solutions
  • Evaluating and develop effective AI solution architecture and strategy using approaches of various AI technologies and analyzing MPA’s data and business requirements and methods to address customers’ business problems and needs while complying with MPA strategies, business goals, and key ethical considerations  
  • Evaluating MPA requirements and formulate solutions in the form of systems and services that are consistent with available operational resources and capabilities of the MPA’s digital infrastructure  
  • Working with the network support team to support the design and management of data communications networks
  • Facilitating meeting to foster positive labor/management relations in order to resolve issues
  • Formulating automation solutions supporting the MPA’s business processes. Design and implement solutions included in strategic plans, presenting automation plans and providing guidance to MPA management
  • Collecting and analyzing performance data to uncover potential systemic problems, identify areas for improvement, calculate the potential cost of outages, and prepare for emergencies
  • Formulating software solutions aligned with the enterprise architecture, guidelines, and policies. Provide technical expertise on activities involving software architecture, application architecture, data architecture, application architecture, and software development  
  • Ensuring IT solutions support the MPA’s goals and are properly managed and maintained  
  • Ensuring physical security and cyber security requirements are included and addressed by all IT solutions in general and by customer-phasing applications in particular  
  • Formulating goals and objectives required for project initiation, planning, analysis, and control. Coordinate with the project manager the necessary criteria for successful project execution  
  • Coordinating the installation and implementation of database management system software and related software tools to ensure IT solutions meet the expectations of system users and are properly supported by vendors and other data processing staff  
  • Establishing data recovery processes to minimize data losses and system downtime by implementing data protection solutions, including backup routines for database management system software and handling of stored data
  • Monitoring database performance and make modifications and adjustments to database architecture, storage methods, and management system software to fine tune the database for optimum response time
  • Ensuring database management systems provide interfaces that may be readily available to other data processing units
  • Troubleshooting problems related to database file space, database software, data flow, and data storage or data access
  • Providing support to MPA staff in the development and preparation of grant/contract proposals and applications
  • Reviewing grant/contract applications for completeness and adherence to the requirements of the funding agency and State policies
  • Reviewing project budgets for accuracy and compliance

Candidate Requirements:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Must have at least ten years of current experience in database, network, and security system management  
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, effective time management skills, good interpersonal skills, and must be able to demonstrate effective judgement with respect to business and financial matters that affect the work under the resource’s management  
  • Must collaborate effectively with other operational support teams.
  • Must have at least ten years of experience in handling and administering Middleware technologies for new application development, optimization of existing applications, application programming interface, data streaming, and intelligent business automation  
  • Must have at least ten years of Oracle Database Administrator experience on the Redhat Linux platforms
  • Must have knowledge of software engineering languages and tools and be proficient in new and emerging technologies
  • Must have working knowledge of Oracle Golden Gate and data integration technologies
  • Must have experience and working knowledge of Oracle Enterprise application products
  • Must have experience in technology governance, IT infrastructure, system design, system integration, and must have strong communication skills with solid interpersonal skills to communicate complex information effectively and accurately
  • Must be able to solve problems and provide solutions
  • Must have at least ten years of technical experience supporting network systems, including Surveillance, Access Control, Security, and/or Information Technology infrastructure
